"Closing Keynote" by Skip Newberry, President & CEO, Technology at Association of Oregon SOUTH
From global pandemics, to natural disasters, to cybersecurity attacks, our schools and their operations face increasingly frequent and disruptive threats. No less than the health, safety and wellbeing of our children are at stake. This presentation will cover different strategies and best practices that institutions--spanning public, private and education sectors--are taking to meet these challenges head on. Furthermore, while schools must become more resilient in the face of more threats, the needs of our society are also changing, creating new opportunities for institutions that are able to adapt. Consequently, schools need new systems, processes and infrastructure in order to better address both challenges and opportunities. From IT procurement reform to the application of "customer" or "user"-centric design principles, to data standardization, this presentation will outline a framework to better engage stakeholders--internal and external, including the technology community--who are motivated to see our public schools succeed. With once-in-a-generation funding available for infrastructure and workforce development, the time to implement more agile frameworks is now.
