1982
In the Beginning
In 1982, Washington native Gary Gill opened the doors to Micro Computer Systems Inc: a family business focused on the re-distribution of micro-computer equipment.
Gary had a vision of expanding our market nationwide, providing customers the best price and exceeding expectations at every corner.
1980s - 1990s
The Retail Era
MicroK12 began its journey as a retail powerhouse at the Everett Mall, selling CPUs, CD-ROMs, Printers, PC-Games, and more.
What differentiated MicroK12 from other retailers was our MicroAge affiliation, allowing for independent status while taking advantage of volume purchasing.
1997
More Than Just Computers
Since our opening day, we have expanded our offerings exponentially.
To projectors, interactive displays, networking devices, white-glove services, service repair, and device deployment.
1990s - 2000s
Emerging Technology Dealer
When we first opened our doors in 1982 as an authorized dealer in the Everett Mall, there were dealers up and down the I-5 corridor, including names like Computerland, Businessland, Ballard Computer Swan, and many more. They all disappeared many years ago.
Shift Towards the Education Market
We had been dabbling in both retail and education for many years. Then, our primary manufacturer changed its way of doing business.
That is when we started selling Windows operating systems to the education market. After a few years, it became apparent to us that we could no longer work with our primary manufacturer. At that point, we became education only.
2000s to Present Day
Delivering Quality Products and Services
Customers are our number one priority, and that is why they keep coming back for more products and services. Servicing locally allows us to customize, deliver, asset tag, and much more, with new products entering our warehouse daily.
The opening of our new headquarters, a dedicated "White Glove Services" department, and ensuring our customers are taken care of from start to finish makes it all possible
Dedicated Networking Team
Focused on managing district networks and ensuring IT Security issues never occur. The most efficient way of providing technical help is to have a dedicated team ready to tackle any districts networking needs.
We have a trained and certified team specializing in the install, design, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of district problems. They are the unseen heroes of making sure wi-fi and security are running at quality speeds, 24/7.
TechFest Education Conference
In 2011, MicroK12 began hosting an annual conference highlighting the top education technology products/services in the nation.
This event is geared towards decision-makers within school districts: principals, superintendents, curriculum and technology directors, and many other industry professionals.
Along with exhibiting our products and services, we share with the community "Breakout Sessions": a chance for educators to learn how districts are implementing advanced technology within the classroom.
TechFest continues to be the largest Education Technology Conference in the Pacific Northwest, increasing in attendance each year.
